Weapon designs for Destiny 2: Season of the Lost.
These designs were based on various wind and string instruments to capture the Art Nouveau style of the Dreaming City while still leaning into the more tactical, elite guard fantasy for the player. My hope was that each weapon would look like it was crafted to create a series of unique resonant tones as it was fired. Each chord would be specific to that warrior, a calling card and identifier. You would know who was engaging in battle by the unique resonance echoing down the canyon, eliminating the need for radio.
Together the fireteam would create an ensemble.
It was super fun working with the audio team on these. It was my goal to collaborate with them as early as possible in the process so they would be able to craft something special for this set. If you listen closely after firing, you can hear a soft echo of battered strings and resonant crashes as the bullets travel outward.
